The independent political movement Citizens Within a State announced Wednesday 11 candidates for upcoming parliamentary elections to a large crowd gathered inside Hamra's Metro al-Madina theater. The group, founded by former Telecommunication Minister Charbel Nahas to contest 2016 municipal elections, will be facing established parties in six of Lebanon's 15 electoral districts. Candidate announcements were done without naming their respective sectarian backgrounds, as most parties do, as all of Lebanon's parliamentary seats are designated by sect. Instead, each candidate repeated they were running "for all of Lebanon". The group nominated one candidate, Petra Samaha, for Beirut in the city's first electoral district, known as Beirut I.
