Body wants funds to return all displaced

Parliament’s Budget and Finance committee asked the government Thursday to provide the necessary funds to complete the return of all those displaced during the war.

The money would go to the Ministry of the Displaced and the Central Fund for the Displaced, which were requested to complete their work by the middle of next year, according to committee chairman and Koura MP Fayez Ghosn.

“The Central Fund for the Displaced is entitled to use LL600 billion of funds remaining from previous years, in addition to the LL50 billion budget allocated this year,” Ghosn said.

The committee also asked the government to assist under-developed cities such as Tripoli, where, Ghosn said, “people had been receiving promises and waiting for help for more than 10 years.”
