Zkak al-Blat residents protest constant power cuts

BEIRUT: Residents of the Beirut neighborhood of Zkak al-Blat burned tyres on Wednesday to protest perpetual electricity cuts in the capita, according to a report carried by the state-run National News Agency (NNA). The NNA reported that the Lebanese Army deployed in the area to clear roads, while the Civil Defense put out the flames. Since Israel’s bombing of power plants during the summer 2006 war, the Lebanese have been suffering from strict power rationing schedules. – The Daily Star
