BEIRUT: Hadi Abdel-Al, the latest victim of cluster bomb in south Lebanon, has been laid to rest in the Bekaa region of Arqoub.
Abdel-Al, 18, was killed Saturday when he stepped on an Israeli cluster bomb while he was tending a flock of sheep in the hills of Salamiyeh-Mari near the village of Hilta.
Funeral prayers were led by the Marjayoun and Hasbaya mufti, Sheikh Hasan Dali, with MP Qassem Hashem, local notables and citizens in attendance.
Abdel-Al was laid to rest at his family’s cemetery. According to the U.N., Israel dropped some 4 million cluster bombs in Lebanon during the July-August 2006 war, most during the last 48 hours of the conflict.
