BEIRUT: An elderly Lebanese man is in police custody after being suspected of shooting his 79-year-old wife in Kesrouan, Mount Lebanon, security sources said Saturday.
The sources said Philip Muhaseb, 82, is suspected of shooting his wife Josephine Abi Saab, 79, in the head with a pistol.
The shooting took place at the couple’s residence in the Kesrouan district of Haret Sakhr, they said.
Police arrested Muhaseb at his village of Ghousta, where he fled to after allegedly committing the crime.
A pistol in Muhaseb’s possession was confiscated, the sources said, adding that the weapon was likely used to kill Abi Saab.
Muhaseb is being interrogated over the full details of the crime, the sources said, adding that the elderly man may be suffering from a mental illness.
According to a police statement, the husband confessed to the killing.
