BEIRUT: A gas station in Beirut’s southern suburbs was set on fire overnight in an incident linked to an ongoing feud between rival families, a security source said Monday.
The source said members of the powerful Zeaiter clan set fire to a gas station in Lailaki belonging to the Hajoula family.
Civil Defense firefighters, however, managed to douse the fire before flames could reach any fuel reservoirs, the source told The Daily Star.
No casualties were reported from the midnight incident, the source added.
Earlier in August, one man was killed and eight people were wounded in clashes between the Zeaiter and Hajoula clans in Lailaki.
The fighting reignited an old feud that claimed the life of a Hajoula man last year.
