Specialists sent to Akkar over Hepatitis A outbreak

BEIRUT: Fifteen cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in the northern qada of Akkar, the National News Agency said Wednesday.

Health Ministry officials were contacted about the outbreak, which was registered at a private clinic in the village of Meshmesh.

The NNA said specialists would be dispatched to monitor the situation and prevent any further spread of the disease.

A government physician responsible for Akkar told the NNA such cases routinely broke out at this time of year and advised the public to take precautionary measures, such as avoiding contact with any afflicted person.

“But there is nothing to generate concern,” the doctor, Hasan Shadid, added.
