BEIRUT: A metal bottle thought to be a bomb was found overnight outside the local NBN television station in Beirut, a security source said Monday.
The source said a soil-filled thinner bottle with wires attached to it was found hidden in a flower pot outside NBN headquarters in the southern Beirut neighborhood of Jnah.
Security forces have launched an investigation, said the source, adding that police are interrogating an NBN security guard in the case.
"This act is either a warning or a gimmick to scare NBN," the source said.
There are growing fears in Lebanon of bomb attacks aimed at inciting sectarian war in the politically divided country.
Car bombs both in the capital and north have prompted heightened security measures.
