BEIRUT: Lebanese authorities at Beirut airport foiled Monday an attempt to smuggle drugs into Lebanon from Brazil.
A source at Rafik Hariri International Airport told The Daily Star that Brazilian national J.B., 37, was arrested after customs personnel allegedly found 600 kilograms of what is believed to be cocaine hidden in his suitcase.
J.B. had arrived in Beirut from Brazil via Ethiopia. The source said airport police were interrogating J.B. pending a referral to the Central Drug Control Office in Beirut for further investigation.
