BEIRUT: The Lebanese Military Tribunal postponed Tuesday the trial of former Information Minister Michel Samaha on terrorism charges until May 2014.

The state-run National News Agency said the trial, set for May 30, was postponed due to the failure to deliver a court summons to Syrian Gen. Ali Mamlouk who is implicated in the Samaha case.

Samaha, Mamlouk and his Syrian assistant, known only as Col. Adnan, has been charged with plotting terrorist attacks against Lebanese clergymen, politicians, lawmakers and citizens.

Most of the evidence against Samaha was brought to police by an informant, Milad Kfoury, who had played the role of a double agent before the former minister’s arrest in August 2012.
