BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister mourned Friday the late former South African President Nelson Mandela who passed away after a long battle with illness.
“Although death [befell] the great freedom fighter Nelson Mandela, his long struggle will not be absent from the minds of millions of people around the world,” Siniora said in a statement.
“We will not forget his memory especially that we have been and are still [harmed] by the occupation and oppression and we have suffered and are still suffering from the ... tyranny, terrorism, extremism and bullying,” he said.
Mandela, a Nobel Peace laureate, died aged 95 after a long battle with illness.
Siniora said that Mandela would be remembered “for reviving hope in the hearts of a lot of people in the Arab World and for making them believe that their struggle for freedom and for achieving a prosperous future is possible.”
