Landlords warn of storm danger to buildings
A+ A-

BEIRUT: The Landlords Association warned Monday of old buildings collapsing as a result of the rough winter storm expected to hit Lebanon this week.

“The information we have been collecting on a daily basis indicates that there are several buildings at risk of collapsing, raising fears of possible partial collapses to old buildings in some cities and villages,” the association said in a statement.

The association urged municipalities, particularly major cities, to remain cautious of tragedies as a result of the rough winter storms expected to hit Lebanon, starting with a snowstorm called “Alexa” expected to arrive this week.

The association feared a repeat of an incident in January 2012, when a building in Fassouh, a neighborhood in Beirut, crashed to the ground, killing 27 people and injuring around 10 others.
