Two Jabal Mohsen residents shot in Beddawi
A+ A-

BEIRUT: Two people from Jabal Mohsen were shot Wednesday in Beddawi, north Lebanon, a security source said.

Samer al-Aswad was shot in the stomach while Haydar Sayfan was shot in the legs in Beddawi. The two men are from the Alawite-majority neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen in the northern city of Tripoli.

Military Prosecutor Saqr Saqr referred the two incidents to Investigative Military Judge Riad Abu Ghayda.

MP Mohammad Kabbara denounced the attack, describing the perpetrators as “enemies of the city” and calling on the security forces to arrest the attackers and hold them accountable.

“This is a horribly cowardly attack that aims at undermining the stability that Tripoli has enjoyed in the past few days,” he added. Tripoli has seen a spate of attacks targeting the Alawite sect in recent months.
