BEIRUT: The Military Tribunal sentenced Friday a Lebanese doctor to 10 years in prison and his brother to death for collaborating with Israeli intelligence.
The court, headed by Brig. Gen. Khalil Ibrahim, sentenced Doctor Farouq Shuqayr with 10 years in jail with hard labor for collaborating with the Mossad and providing the intelligence agency with information about the residence of Hezbollah officials and key locations of the group, as well as the Lebanese Army in south Lebanon during the July 2006 war.
The tribunal also served, in absentia, the doctor’s brother, Zuhair, with the death penalty for the same charge, in addition to recruiting his sibling to work with the Israeli intelligence.
The court also issued a decision to issue an arrest warrant for Zuhair, who remains at large.
The two were stripped of their civic rights.
