BEIRUT: Hezbollah's second in command Sheikh Naim Qassem met Monday Qatari Ambassador Ali Bin Hamad Al-Marri in a first meeting between the two sides.
According to Hezbollah’s media office, the two discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.
They also affirmed that political solutions in the region were the basis to constructively resolve issues for the interest of the people.
Hezbollah's deputy secretary-general and the envoy also affirmed that cooperation among parties in Lebanon is the remedy which serves this country and all its citizens.
In an interview earlier this month, Hezbollah Chief Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah said he had recently received a delegation from Qatar in Beirut but did elaborate on the reasons behind the meeting.
Nasrallah said his party had maintained a channel of communication with Doha despite differences between the two over the crisis in neighboring Syria.
