BEIRUT: Maronite Patriach Beshara Rai posted his first tweets to thousands of Lebanese Christian youth followers on the Bkirki account @bkerkejeune.
“Dear young people, I see in you the hope of the Church and its future; and we consider you as a regenerative force in the communities where you live," Rai said in his tweet during a Wednesday evening event at Bkirki, the seat of the Maronite Church.
The event was attended by several Maronite bishops, Bkirki administrators and youth Church members.
After sending out his tweet, Rai, addressing the youth, said: “Our young people need to be in touch with us as much as we are in dire need to communicate with them.”
“We are delighted tonight with this bid that puts us in touch with all our youth – those in Lebanon fearful of their fate, our youth in the Middle East, living the tragedies of war and displacement, and our young people spread around the world seeking self-fulfillment,” he said.
“I’m always willing to listen to all their questions and their desires,” Rai stressed.
