BEIRUT: Shiite scholar Ali Fadlallah said that Christians form an integral part of Lebanese society and the region, and called on Muslims to respect the Middle East’s Christians.
“We reaffirm the importance of respecting the Christian presence in Lebanon and the region,” Fadlallah said during a Friday sermon.
“We call for a real partnership between Muslims and Christians to preserve the humanity of the people of this country away from sectarianism and religious identities.”
Fadlallah said the Christmas holidays should be an occasion of unity for Muslims and Christians. He also said the Lebanese should all stand by the Lebanese Army.
