BEIRUT: One person was killed and seven others were wounded Saturday night in a feud over land ownership between two families in the northern region of Akkar.
A minor dispute between members of al-Saeed and Al-Hussein families erupted in Talbiba in Akkar valley over the right to a plot of land. The quarrel was resolved with the help of a third party.
Hours later, Al-Saeed members came under heavy gun fire by seven gunmen on their way home.
The clash killed Yehya Saeed and wounded seven others.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, members of the feuding families burnt down houses belonging to their rivals.
