BEIRUT: A Hezbollah delegation met Thursday with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai on the occasion of Christmas.
The delegation visited Bkirki, the seat of the Maronite patriarchate, and included Hezbollah politburo Ghaleb Abu Zaynab and party official Hareth Shehab, who is also a member of the bilateral committee of the resistance group.
Rai also held a closed-door meeting with the delegation.
"Christmas is an occasion for hope and light in the dark situation we live in," Abu Zaynab told reporters after the meeting.
"There is someone who wants to spread darkness and our hopes is for Christmas to dispel that for a brighter future for Lebanon," he added.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah MP Ali Fayyad said Thursday his party is ready for National Dialogue without any preconditions as he urged holding the presidential election on time and reiterated the call for a 9-9-6 Cabinet.
“We are ready for constitutional deadlines that the country is in need for, starting with the formation of a national partnership government based on the 9-9-6 formula, proceeding to National Dialogue without any preconditions and working hard to hold the presidential election on time,” said Fayyad.
He said that National Dialogue should address establishing a new electoral law for the parliamentary elections due next year.
Fayyad also stressed the need to hold on to the national unity and co-existence between the Lebanese.
