BEIRUT: Hackers briefly hijacked the Twitter account of Future Movement’s secretary-general Ahmad Hariri late Sunday and sent out a message warning of attacks against Lebanon’s Sunnis.

"No one will be able to defeat the Sunnis in Lebanon and we will carry on along the path until the end. You won’t intimidate us,” the message read, according to a statement released Monday by the Future Movement's press office.

The tweet was accompanied by an image of the late presidents of Iraq (Saddam Hussein), Palestine (Yasser Arafat) and Egypt (Jamal Abdel-Nasser) as well as former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, according to the statement.

“A technical team [at the Future Movement’s press office] worked immediately to restore the account,” the statement added.
