BEIRUT: The Lebanese Army urged citizens Monday not to shoot their guns in the air on New Year’s Eve in order to avoid accidents.
“The Lebanese Army calls on all citizens not to shoot in the air in celebration of this occasion, in the interest of public safety and respect for the law. It is also reminding people that any violation in this regard will result in arrest and prosecution,” an Army statement said.
It called on individuals “to fully comply with the noted security measures and to take the initiative to contact military personnel in case of suspicious activities that might compromise their security.”
The Army also announced that its forces would be implementing tight security measures throughout Lebanon.
