BEIRUT: The Army arrested Friday in east Lebanon two Lebanese brothers involved in the early morning kidnapping of two nationals from the Dominican Republic, the military said in a statement.

“The Army arrested this afternoon in Brital Maher Abdallah Ezzeddine and his brother Mohammad ... who kidnapped two Dominican girls in the suburbs of Arsal [northeast Lebanon],” the statement said.

The Army said two “Dominican girls” were with the brothers at the time of the arrest and that an investigation into the case has been launched.

Media reports Friday said two girls were allegedly kidnapped from nightclubs in Beirut with the aim of transferring them to Syria, indicating that the men were involved in human trafficking.
