Syrian refugee numbers top 800,000: UNHCR

BEIRUT: More than 52,000 Syrians refugees in Lebanon registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the month of October, according to an inter-agency briefing. 

The latest round of registration brings the total number of registered refugees to 725,000, with another 87,000 awaiting registration. 

The total number of Syrian refugees receiving assistance from the UNHCR and its partners is 812,000. The Lebanese government estimates the real number of Syrians in the country at more than 1 million.
