SIDON, Lebanon: A bomb exploded in a dumpster Friday in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh in the coastal city of Sidon, a security source told The Daily Star.
One person, Ramy al-Dokhi, was slightly wounded in the explosion, which caused part of a wall to collapse.
The explosion occurred minutes after a convoy belonging to senior Fatah official Brig. Gen. Mahmoud Issa, better known as Lino, passed the neighborhood of Zeeb, the source said.
Lino was not in the convoy but members of his family were.
Another convoy belonging to Hamas official Ahmad Abdel-Hadi also passed through the neighborhood minutes before the explosion.
The dumpster is located on a road frequented by Lino, and nearby a checkpoint that was erected by the Palestinian security force. The latter was formed last month to bolster security in the volatile camp.
The checkpoint is located some 30 meters away from an Army checkpoint at the western entrance of Ain el-Hilweh.
Palestinian source blamed the explosion on a "third party" in an attempt to destabilize the security situation in the camp.
