BEIRUT: Israeli army vehicles and personnel were seen approaching the Blue Line Friday on the Israeli side of the border near the village of Bawabet Fatima, sending the Lebanese Army on high alert.
The Israeli vehicles patrolled a military route parallel to the technical fence that leads from Odeisseh to the southern tip of the Khiam plane, where they remained for five hours.
Israeli soldiers climbed the 7-meter high fence and photographed a Lebanese Army post, prompting the Army to launch several patrols.
U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon peacekeepers were also deployed to diffuse tensions.
The same day, an Israeli military boat entered Lebanese waters for a brief period. The boat entered Lebanese waters at 10:15 a.m. toward Naqoura, then returned shortly after.
