TRIPOLI, Lebanon: Shots and rocket-propelled grenades were fired to celebrate the return of a Bab al-Tabbaneh field commander Wednesday.
Fighters loyal to Saad al-Masri gathered at the Abu Ali roundabout in Bab al-Tabbaneh with machine guns to celebrate his return from Turkey.
Rumors had been circulating that Masri had stolen $2 million and fled to Australia.
“Hezbollah has been spreading rumors about my travels,” Masri said. “If I have $2 million we would have used it to eliminate the cancer that serves [Syrian President] Bashar Assad,” referring to the resistance party. – The Daily Star
