BEIRUT: Future MP Bahia Hariri voiced support Sunday for the Christians of Jezzine, saying that Christian emigrants should return and the lands of the remaining community should be safeguarded.
“We declare in Jezzine that we are highly protective of our Christian partners in this region and we want to safeguard their residency on their lands,” Hariri said during an event held at a high school in Jezzine to launch the new academic year for the Sidon School Board.
“We call on emigrants to return to this area and contribute to its development,” she added.
“Everyone is proud of their religious beliefs, but in the end the nation of Lebanon binds us together.”
The MP said she would hold more meetings in the municipality “because we consider the high schools in this region an essential part of the education system,” she said.
