BEIRUT: Four inmates were injured Monday when a fight broke out at Lebanon's largest prison facility, a security source told The Daily Star.
Fighting erupted among the inmates as a result of a personal dispute between two individuals. The fisticuffs left four injured, prompting the security forces inside Roumieh Prison to intervene.
Two additional prisoners were wounded when police fired rubber bullets in a bid to disperse the brawling inmates.
According to a statement released by the Internal Security Forces, anti-riot police intervened, firing several shots of rubber bullets.
Police were able to restore calm at the prison facility and launched an investigation into the incident.
