BEIRUT: Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called Wednesday former Prime Minister Saad Hariri to wish him well, a day after the Future Movement leader underwent successful surgery in Paris.
Hariri broke his left leg in January 2012 while skiing in the French Alps. Tuesday’s operation in the French capital saw the removal of pins placed in his leg following the accident. Hariri’s physician said he would remain at the hospital in Paris for a two-week recuperation period.
The state-run National News Agency said Berri also extended Eid al-Adha greetings to Hariri.
The NNA said Berri also extended holiday greetings in separate phone calls to Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani, deputy head of the Higher Shiite Council Sheikh Abdel-Amir Qabalan and former Prime Minister Salim Hoss.
The Speaker also received holiday greetings from President Michel Sleiman, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam, head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun, Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslan, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea and from many other political, military, security and religious officials.
