BEIRUT: Residents blocked Saturday a road in the Beirut neighborhood of Moseitbeh and prevented security forces from removing illegal constructions in the area.
The residents, some of whom are affiliated to the Progressive Socialist Party, set up tents on the road, preventing police from demolishing the structures illegally built on public and private property in the neighborhood.
A similar protest was held Friday with residents preventing the police from fulfilling their mission.
The move is part of the Interior Ministry's plan to remove illegal construction nationwide.
Police have been met with opposition in both the northern city of Tripoli and the capital's suburbs.
