HERMEL, Lebanon: Four rockets fired from Syrian territories hit the northeastern town of Hermel, a Lebanese security source told The Daily Star, adding that a fifth rocket landed on the outskirts.
One of the rockets hit a Lebanese Army barracks in the neighborhood of Mansourah in Hermel.
No casualties were reported.
Sources following up on the issue said the rockets were targetting artillery installations belonging to Hezbollah in the town. The party enjoys large support in Hermel.
The installations were used as a backup during the Qusair battle earlier this year where Hezbollah members fought alongside Syrian regime forces in the town, the source said.
Qusair, where regime forces claimed a decisive victory following months of deadly fighting, is located only 10 kilometers (six miles) from the Syrian border with Lebanon.
The attack comes amid reports that the Syrian Army backed by members of the resistance group is preparing to launch an attack to regain rebel-held areas in the strategic border area of Qalamoun, adjacent to the eastern town of Arsal.
Qalamoun has become an opposition stronghold and is a crucial launching pad for attacks against the regime.
