BEIRUT: An Arabic version of the EU Immigration Portal, a website with information for prospective immigrants, was launched Thursday, a statement from the EU Embassy said.
The site, ec.europa.eu/immigration, features hands-on information for foreign nationals interested in moving to the European Union and offers user-friendly explanations of ways to legal migrate to the EU and the risks related to irregular migration.
The site is intended for potential immigrants, foreign nationals already in the EU and other governments and NGOs.
The original portal was launched in November 2011 and was available in English, French and Spanish.
“Recent events in the Mediterranean have shown how important it is to offer clear and accessible information on how to enter the European Union legally and to point out the risks related to trafficking and smuggling,” the statement said.
