BEIRUT: At least one person was wounded during a shootout between members of rival families in Beirut's southern suburbs Tuesday, a security source told The Daily Star.
The heavy shooting between members of the Zeaiter and Hajoula families prompted residents to flee the neighborhood of Laylaki.
One local media outlet reported one person was killed.
For months a rekindled dispute between the two families has led to shootings and fights in the suburbs.
Later in the day, members of the Zeaiter family were in a car and refused to stop at a Hezbollah checkpoint in the same neighborhood, the source said.
