BEIRUT: The Army arrested several people in the Chouf area Friday after residents from two neighborhoods clashed overnight.
A brief fight erupted in the Chouf town of Aramoun Thursday between armed men in the Shebaa and Marian neighborhoods, where machine-gun fire terrorized residents for 45 minutes, the National News Agency reported. Security reports did not identify the parties involved in the clash.
The Army was deployed in the area to contain the violence, which caused substantial damage to cars and properties.
Media reports said the clash was in retaliation for another which occurred one month ago, in which two men were injured and the perpetrators were identified but not arrested.
