BEIRUT: Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt held a meeting with newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale at the MP's Clemenceau residence in Beirut over the weekend.
Hale discussed with Jumblatt the general situation in Lebanon and the region Saturday night, a statement from Jumblatt’s office said.
The meeting was attended by caretaker Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour and PSP vice president Duraid Yaghi.
The new ambassador arrived in Lebanon last week and presented his credentials to President Michel Sleiman Friday.
Hale replaced former U.S. Ambassador Maura Connelly who recently left her post.
