BEIRUT: A Hezbollah MP said Sunday that the Syrian crisis will create a new international balance of power in the Middle East that can ultimately harm Israel.
“What Syria is witnessing is a labor in the birth of a new international system, said Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad during a ceremony in the southern town of Al-Taybeh.
Fayyad said that the Syrian conflict would eventually weaken the role of the U.S. in the region.
“Every time the United States’ efforts in creating a regional system to the benefit of Israeli interests fail, then its plot will be futile and its allies will be in crisis and the dangers threatening Israel will increase.”
The Syrian conflict has gone on for over two and a half years and claimed the lives of over 100,000 people.
The U.S. is considering military strikes against the Syrian regime as a response to the use of chemical weapons, allegedly carried out by government forces.
