BEIRUT: Lebanon’s General Security arrested a Syrian over the weekend near Beirut’s Nahr Ibrahim River for trying to manufacture explosives, security sources told The Daily Star.
Ahmad Oussama Toumani, a Syrian worker, was arrested in a farming store near the river, the sources said.
He was seized trying to prepare explosives with flammable material and plastic bottles, they added.
The sources said that Toumani confessed in the preliminary investigation to contacting people in Syria for instructions on how to prepare explosives.
The investigation into Toumani is still underway.
