SIDON, Lebanon: Two young women are in critical condition after a tourist boat carrying 24 Lebanese passengers capsized and sank off the coast of Sarafand in south Lebanon Sunday.
The boat, owned by Hussein Shalhoub, was carrying passengers on a sea tour when water suddenly entered the vessel, according to survivors.
They said the boat then broke down and sank. The incident occurred around sundown Sunday.
Several boats in the area rushed to rescue the passengers, who were admitted to local hospitals after swallowing water or due to fatigue.
All but two young women were released from hospitals.
The women, one identified as Hanan Atweh, were still in intensive care Monday.
