BEIRUT: The wife of a Syrian man who was killed when a bomb exploded in his apartment north of Beirut told interrogators Wednesday she was unaware of her husband’s activity with explosives.
A judicial source said the wife told interrogators that she was “shocked” by the 11 a.m. blast in her apartment in Halat, Jbeil.
“I was unaware that my husband had bad intentions,” she said, according to the source. She also retracted an earlier statement that her husband, 28-year-old Musa Mustafa Ibrahim al-Ali, was an intelligence officer.
According to the source, Ali previously completed compulsory military service in Syria and had been working in Lebanon for more than a year.
Investigators concluded that the wife, her friend and Ali’s brother had nothing to do with the incident.
