HERMEL, Lebanon: The Army apprehended Sunday the driver of a truck loaded with expired arms the northeastern town of Arsal, the military said in a statement on Sunday.
The statement said that after a military expert examined the load, the weapons were found to be "expired and unusable."
The military stopped the truck, which was coming from the northern region of Akkar, at the entrance of Arsal and arrested Maher Abdallah Abdallah, a security source told The Daily Star.
The Army confiscated 200 mortar shells and an estimated 7,000 rounds of ammunition, according to the source.
The source said the truck was headed to Syria.
