BEIRUT: An envoy of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri arrived in the Indonesian capital over the weekend to follow up on the aftermath of a deadly boat accident that killed at least 26 Lebanese, the National News Agency reported.
Motaz Zreiqa arrived in Jakarta Sunday where he met with the Lebanese survivors of the boat crash.
Indonesian officials said that 29 were killed in the boat sinking that was carrying 80 people.
So far, 26 Lebanese have been confirmed dead, while 25 people have been rescued according to local officials and over 30 others remain missing.
Zreiqa said that the bodies of the victims were handed to the Indonesian Military Hospital and that the Higher Relief Committee will handle returning the bodies to Lebanon.
He added that he will follow up with the survivors over securing their needs.
