Health Minister forms food safety committee

BEIRUT: Health Minister Wael Abu Faour announced Tuesday the formation of committee to monitor food safety in Lebanon, a statement from the ministry said.

The committee members are the general directors of the health, agriculture, industry, economy and environment ministries, the statement added.

Lebanon has witnessed several scandals related to food safety, most recently the discovery of natamycin in labneh products from at least two factories.
