BEIRUT: MBC paid Ricky Martin a whopping $1 million for his four-minute performance on the season finale of The Voice, Arab and local media reported Wednesday.

El-Nashra Fan reported that the Latin singer reportedly arrived in Beirut just to take part in the Middle East version of the talent show, and left minutes after he was done.

Martin also declined a request to hold a news conference following his performance, arguing that speaking to reporters was not part of his contract with the Dubai-based Middle Broadcasting Center (MBC), El-Nashra said. He briefly chatted with the host of the show during the broadcast.

The singer, who performed in 2006 in a Beirut concert, also had his own convoy of local policemen who accompanied him from the airport to the studio for the live show.
