Bassil to Cairo for Arab meet on peace talks

BEIRUT: Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil headed to Cairo Wednesday to attend an Arab League meeting on Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League to discuss the issue.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki said Abbas would appeal at the Arab League meeting for political and economic support in the event of punitive Israeli measures.
