BEIRUT: Head of the board of directors at Rafik Hariri University Hospital Wassim al-Wazzan offered his resignation to Health Minister Wael Abu Faour.
“Wazzan submitted his resignation to the Health Ministry and presented his vision to reform the hospital, and his views are mostly correct,” Abu Faour said following a meeting on the facility’s condition Tuesday.
“The situation in the hospital can’t continue as is, it’s draining the state’s money ... services keep deteriorating and so does the capacity. The hospital can now offer 230 beds, while in the past it had 400,” the minister said.
Abu Faour said the Cabinet would decide whether to accept the resignation or not. He added that he would present the Cabinet Wednesday with a “salvation plan” for the hospital.
