BEIRUT: Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil Wednesday urged clarification on the US' stance with regards to ISIS in a meeting held with US Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale, calling for legal action against the terrorism targeting Iraq and Arsal.

Bassil called for US legal action with respects to crimes against humanity perpetrated by terrorist groups in Arsal.

The Foreign Minister thanked Hale for “any emergency help the U.S would offer to support the Lebanese Army,” and said that Army aid had been the topic of his and Hale’s phone discussion last Sunday.

Bassil informed Hale on previous efforts to initiate legal proceedings in the International Criminal Court in connection to crimes committed in Gaza and Mosul.

The Foreign Minister cited Lebanon’s request to the ICC’s general prosecutor to investigate crimes committed by Israel in its offensive on Gaza and those committed by extremists in Iraq, urging the US to follow suit.
