BEIRUT: Vandals broke in overnight and destroyed the doors to a Maronite church in the east Lebanon city of Zahle, security sources said Friday.

The sources told The Daily Star that the 11 p.m. attack on St. Anthony of Padua Church in the Zahle neighborhood of Karak was an apparent act of sabotage.

They said a thorough search of the church found no missing items.

It was the sixth attempt to vandalize this church, according to the sources, and fingerprints collected at the crimes scene from the previous attempted vandalism indicate that the suspects belong to the same group.
