BEIRUT: Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea Wednesday denied media reports that he had suffered a heart attack, saying he was in good health and carrying out his duties regularly.

“I don’t know the reason behind the rumor,” he said to MTV, adding that it was not worthwhile to file a complaint in light of everything happening in Iraq, Syria and Gaza.

News outlets and social media platforms circulated speculations Wednesday morning that Geagea had suffered a heart attack.

Geagea also spoke out about the debate over extending the term of Parliament, lauding the Cabinet for signing a decree inviting the electorate to participate in upcoming elections, saying “the Lebanese Forces opposes extension.”

“We favor elections rather than the choice of extension,” he said.
