BEIRUT: Beddawi police Friday arrested a man suspected of raping a 5-year-old boy, the National News Agency reported.

A security source told The Daily Star that the accused had been on the run for more than a week, after the child informed his parents of the sexual abuse.

According to the source, the suspect, A.J., would bribe the child with money to keep him from reporting the crime.

The northern town’s police have begun interrogating the suspect, the NNA said.
