Ministry fields program for incurable diseases

BEIRUT: The Health Ministry Thursday introduced a plan to ensure patients suffering from incurable diseases receive medication.

The program, launched to mark World Cancer Day, also covers a substantial number of citizens who do not benefit from any state health coverage, according to a ministry statement.

The plan will allow for the treatment of 43,810 patients free of charge and provide medication without interruption, despite the increasing number of patients per year and a relatively fixed ministerial budget, the statement said.
